Persons who are told a second time not to hang on the rim will be suspended from using the basketball hoop for a period of time determined by a lifeguard and/or manager. Following a suspension, further misuse of the basketball hoop will result in loss of privilege for the remainder of the pool season. Persons who damage the basketball unit by hanging on the rim, by dunking, or by any other means will be responsible for repair or replacement costs.

  • Safety ropes (aka grab ropes), and buoys are located in the pool for the safety of swimmers and non-swimmers alike. Their placement is governed by PA health and safety laws and by the pool’s insurers. Pool safety equipment cannot be removed, moved, or interfered with under any circumstances.

  • Only children 5 and younger are permitted in the baby pool, and they must be under the supervision of an adult or another responsible party.

  • Any member/guest found to violate the rules and regulations will receive a verbal warning from the lifeguard or management. A second violation will result in the suspension of pool privileges. A third violation will result in the removal of the member/guest from the pool. If the 3-strikes policy is enforced more than three times during the season, the membership will be canceled.

POOL CLOSURES

Every effort will be made to keep the pool open throughout the designated operating hours. If there are less than 10 swimmers, pool management has the right to restrict access to certain areas of the pool, or to close the pool.

NOTICE TO MEMBERSHIP: Management has the right to close the pool or alter operating hours at any time it is not cost-effective to remain open, due to lack of staffing, or for any other reason as needed to operate safely and/or efficiently.

Members are encouraged to sign up for text or email alerts to be informed when the manager plans to close the pool or delay opening due to weather (see the RainedOut Alerts button on homepage). Members who plan to come after 6:30 p.m. are urged to call ahead to ensure the pool hasn’t closed due to lack of swimmers. Having an insufficient number of staff on duty may lead to pool closure at any time, especially the evening hours.

DMSC follows the weather safety policy set by the American Red Cross as follows:

  • The pool will close when the water temperature is 65 degrees and under.

  • Lifeguards will clear the pool for thunder (30 minutes outside the pool for each clap) and for lightning (30 minutes outside the pool for each strike).

  • Lifeguards will clear the pool when rain obscures their ability to see the lines at the bottom of the pool.

Lifeguards are equipped with walkie-talkies that receive NOAA weather alerts. If a manager or lifeguard believes the pool is in the path of a severe storm, lifeguards will require members and their guests to move under the upper pavilion or clear the pool and the grounds.

ENTRANCE

  • Members shall enter the pool grounds through the upper gate. Senior citizens and members who are disabled or handicapped may call ahead to have the lower gate unlocked for entry and exit.
